Bologna stops Juventus at 0-0: Napoli can try to overtake

After 15 consecutive victories, the leaders stop in Bologna and leave the door open for Napoli to attempt a counter-overtake with Milan – Donadoni's team has harnessed the black and whites, less brilliant than usual and perhaps already thinking about Tuesday's big match in the Champions League against Guardiola's Bayern Munich – Goal opportunities were rare but the goalkeepers were good at neutralizing them.

And at the 16th Juve rested. After 15 consecutive victories and a run-up that earned them the lead in the standings, the Bianconeri broke the streak and didn't go beyond a draw on the Bologna field. In the 0-0 draw at Dall'Ara there are many merits of Donadoni's men but also demerits of those of Allegri, never capable of imposing pace and technical superiority on an opponent who has proved to be very valid. Could the Champions League have had an impact, even if unconsciously, on the Lady's match? The question, already asked on the eve, seems to have found an affirmative answer after watching the match.

“We have to give credit to Bologna, they didn't give us almost anything – retorted Allegri. – More speed or a favorable episode would have been needed but you can't always win, and in any case we are always at the top of the standings. We knew it would be difficult, plus the boys are playing a lot and it's not easy to always be brilliant." It had to be a tough match and a tough match it was. Juventus, lined up in a rhombus with Pereyra playmaker behind the pair Zaza-Morata, found it difficult from the start. Merit of Bologna, capable of closing all the spaces with tight lines without however renouncing to strike on the counterattack, also thanks to a respectable offensive trident (Rizzo-Destro-Giaccherini). The greatest opportunity of the first half came from Donadoni's team with Destro, stopped by a good save from Buffon, otherwise few emotions with the bianconeri subdued and literally harnessed by the opposing units.

Juve did something more in the second half when Allegri, evidently disappointed by his team's performance, removed the evanescent Pereyra to insert Cuadrado. The entry of the Colombian and the consequent transition to a 4-3-3 created a few more problems for Bologna, although the goalscorings came with a dropper. The black and white score only counts a shot by Pogba (84', left foot wide on an assist from Marchisio), one by Morata (87', saved by Mirante) and a tricky cross by the French himself (89', Cuadrado didn't get there by a hair's breadth), for the rest the hosts managed the match well, even if Buffon didn't run any particular dangers. In short, a fair 0-0, one point each which is certainly more convenient for Bologna than for Juve. Now, in fact, the championship ball is back in the hands of Napoli, who will play at the San Paolo against Milan on Monday evening, the chance to take back the first place alone. There's no drama, God forbid: a draw against this Bologna could be there, especially after 15 consecutive victories. But if anyone, after last Saturday's direct confrontation, expected a championship that had already been decided, they had a decidedly negative response.
