44% of companies listed on the Stock Exchange are in the hands of foreigners

It grows in percentage terms weight of foreign investors in listed companies at Piazza Affari. This can be learned from the data provided by the study carried out by Unimpresa. According to the study, in 2014 foreign subjects held shareholdings in companies listed in Italy equal to 226 billion euros, 44,3% of the total.

Unimpresa, an association representing small and medium-sized enterprises, also underlines how the weight of the large Italian entrepreneurial families to which the 46% overall of unlisted joint-stock companies on the Milanese list for an amount of 906 billion euros.

Observing the data relating to Spas listed on Piazza Affari, the change in foreign investments in listed companies is significant. It went from 139 billion in June 2013 to 226 billion in June 2014, a positive change of 62,5%.

The study by Unimpresa also illustrates the decline in investments by banking groups. In 2014, the weight of banks in joint-stock companies not listed on the stock exchange amounted to 134 billion, equal to 7% of the total value. The figure relating to the weight of banking groups in companies listed on Piazza Affari also fell. It went from 32,1 billion in June 2013 to 30,8 billion in June last year.
