Ikea beats Apple: the simplest smart-TV in the world

The Swedish group enters the smart-TV business: "Uppleva, connected television set" will soon be released. Uppleva means "experience" in Swedish and in this way Ikea wants to transfer its concept of simplicity, usability and economy to consumer electronics too, starting with the living room.

Ikea beats Apple: the simplest smart-TV in the world

IKEA presents its smart-TV Uppleva in this video he put on YouTube and it seems to be decidedly simpler and more functional, especially for a target fond of traditional TV, than that of Apple which is so long awaited.

Although iPhone cannot be used as a remote control, it is not possible to share all multimedia contents from different consumer electronics products – mobile phone, camera etc…- and it does not have first class image quality, it may come as a surprise in results, also thanks to the competitive price – Apple's smart-TV will instead be very expensive – and to mobile-TV integration.

It cannot be expected to last for years like the old CRT analogue TVs, but for some time now technological evolution has made electronic products obsolete in times that are measured in months. Consequently, Ikea could follow the technological curve as a "follower" at extremely competitive prices, allowing the customer who is attentive to cost and simplicity, to easily change the look and television of their living room, almost a pret-a-porter of a solution that those who can afford it have it made to measure by choosing the best furniture and the best electronic products. We expect that soon, if Uppleva will be successful, there will also be a version for the bedroom and the kitchen.

In 1865 from Finland Nokia began as a sawmill and 135 years later became the world leader in mobile phones. Now Ikea, which has revolutionized the furniture market, this time from Sweden, is entering the consumer electronics market. Courses and appeals of history?
