For a week organized by the IED an event dedicated to planning and sustainable design. An event that paves the way for the new Campus

IED Milano: starting today Ecocentrico, circular economy as a basis for future projects

There is a philosophical concept that is currently circulating in Milan, and not only among those interested in art: nature has value in its entirety more than in each of its individual parts. The students of theInstitute European Design (IED) of the Italian, Spanish, Brazilian offices. The boys are in Milan for Ecocentric, an artistic and informative space on the environment open to the public. An authentic openlabs in the former slaughterhouse area where the new Campus of the Institute will be built. The laboratory is open from today 17 April to Sunday 23 and is in collaboration with the Association Deposits urban.

As it is in the spirit of this organization - to stimulate circular economy paths and fight waste of all kinds - in the same way throughout the week in Milan will take place photographic, audio, video and multimedia laboratories. Focusing on multimedia tools to talk about the environment and the urban landscape to raise critical awareness among the new generations is a method that XNUMXth-century art has never used. These Session they have the merit of combine technical skills with the expectations of ordinary people. «This project confirms the determination with which the IED Group wants to train young students, professional designers of the future, on the themes of circularity and regeneration, not only of materials, but also of urban places and social contexts» he says Fabrizio Capriati, Communications Manager of the IED Group. It seems to us a way to blur the line between study and creation of shared spaces right from the conception. Milan is not new to this kind of experimentation. From a climatic point of view, the city is in the “Mission 100 climate neutral cities” and wants to ward off socio-environmental nightmares. The future Campus in the area of the former slaughterhouse of Porta Vittoria will be "in turn a further and extraordinary long-term regeneration and redevelopment project" adds Fabrizia Capriati.

Milan designs its spaces by listening to people

Open youth art workshops in cities affected by climatic effects and chaotic urbanization indicates an awareness of future creatives. Their talent will be measured with issues as extensive as they are close to the life of each of us. It would be nice if the Municipalities, the construction companies, the local Authorities paid more attention to these hardships than the study courses. Networking with the territory is, in fact, one of the objectives on which Ecocentrico aims. Quality lens, for sure. The exchanges cultural exchanges and human relations with those who are not involved in design or construction, they become the basis for getting out of theories, working with materials, using tools that do not disfigure the environment. And if it is already compromised, we start from scratch with new ideas. Let's face it: it is responsible environmentalism to “design aware of the impact we generate on the planet we inhabit, on people and on the other living species that inhabit it with us”. The commitment of the European Institute of Design wants to assume the connotations of benefit company, they say at the venue. The projection in Milan "with swirling thoughts" (cf. Ada Merinthe "For Milan") in this week are, in fact, the workshops run by the students. There is also a geodesic yurt where, upon entering, one will become aware of the urban, social and cultural transformations that have taken place in the city. Spaces are the raw material of future professional designs. And the Giacimenti Urbani staff thought of them, making available recycled materials, used to create the exhibition project. An example of micro circular economy in the hands of designers with an eye to the future. They have plenty of time to show off their ingenuity without causing undue spite to the city of skyscrapers and archistars.
