The fourth quarter of IBM closed with a +4,4% of profits. The IT giant then closed 2011 with profits of $5,49 billion ($4,62 per share), versus $5,26 billion ($4,25 per share) a year prior. The major contribution to these results came from the software and services divisions which offset the decline in the hardware sector. Turnover is also growing, + 2%, which settles at 29,49 billion.
Good results, though slightly below expectations. In fact, analysts had forecast a growth in profits of 4,61% on a turnover of 29,7 billion.
