Iberdrola, in 2020 useful on despite Covid

Covid had a weight of 153 million, but despite this (and despite a drop of 13,6% in the second quarter following the lockdown) the net profit of Iberdrola, the Spanish energy group which also operates in Italy, rose by 2020% in the first half of 12,2, to 1,84 billion euros. And this result relaunches future goals, with the stated target of reaching 10 billion in investments by the end of this year: "We are consistently pursuing our goal of investing 10 billion euros by 2020, demonstrating that the green economy is the only way to a rapid and solid recovery", commented the president by Iberdrola Ignacio Galán.

In the last 12 months, meanwhile, investments have already been made for over 8 billion, for 4.900 new megawatts under construction and an increasingly marked international expansion. In the first half of this year alone, Iberdrola made investments of 3,58 billion euros (+2,3%), in line with the objective of carrying forward the project in renewables for 58.000.000 megawatts. Cash flow generation amounted to €3,92 billion, improving solvency ratios with a credit rating confirmed by S&P, Moody's and Fitch. In 2020, the company has issued green financial instruments for 2,6 billion euros, consolidating its global leadership in green and sustainable financing, thanks to the issuance of over 22 billion euros.

There is also good news for shareholders: despite the uncertainties on the horizon, Iberdrola confirms its 2020 guidance and reiterates its dividend policy with a new edition of the flexible plan (flexible remuneration) of Iberdrola Retribución, which offers 0,232 euros gross per share as additional remuneration, to complete a shareholder dividend of 0,40 euros gross per share compared to 2019 earnings.
