Unions to FCA: "Immediately new premium investments in Pomigliano"

Joint note by FIM UILM FISMIC UGLM and AQCFR: "The goal assumed by the top management of the full absorption of all workers by the end of 2018 still appears far away".

The unions ask FCA to make new premium investments in Pomigliano as soon as possible. "The active of the RSA and of the activists of FIM, UILM, FISMIC, UGLM and AQCFR took place - reads a joint note - with the presence of the national secretariats in which the situation of the Pogliano d 'Arco and its industrial and employment prospects. In recent years, thanks to the trade union agreements that we have signed since 2010 and the consequent investments, we have saved Pomigliano and the other Italian plants and greatly reduced the use of layoffs which in those years involved over 40% of Italian workers in 2013 of the group".

The unions acknowledge that "today the situation has improved, as the use of social safety nets has greatly decreased (today around 8%) and FCA has shown itself to be a solid industrial group, capable of dealing with the problems and profound market transformations that are predicted for the next few years. However, the goal assumed by top management of the full absorption of all workers by the end of 2018 still appears to be a long way off”.

The situation in Pomigliano is not the only one, "but today it is the most urgent - the workers' representatives continue - not only because the term for the end of use of the social safety nets imposed by the new legislation is approaching (for Pomigliano July 2019), but above all because the launch of production of the new Panda from 2021 has already been announced in Poland. The investments necessary for the new production assignments must therefore be approved immediately, in good time to avoid serious employment repercussions, therefore, well before the presentation of the future industrial plan and the investments (investor day) announced for the first half of 2018".

Therefore, “the national secretariats and the assets of the union delegates of FIM UILM FISMIC UGLM AQCFR therefore reiterate the request for clarification on the guarantees of the future of Pomigliano and of the other Italian factories; if the FCA management continues to ignore the requests for meetings, the union organizations will take the consequent support initiatives”, concludes the note.
