The numbers of the Russia-Ukraine war: victims, wounded and refugees in the first seven days of the conflict

The numbers of the Russia-Ukraine war are very uncertain. The most important variable, as always in these cases, is the source: the House, the White House, the Kremlin, the UN, NATO, associations. Each bell gives different numbers, and sometimes the discrepancies are glaring.

The numbers of the war: Russian soldiers killed

The most sensational example concerns the count of Russian soldiers who died in the first seven days of the conflict: according to the United States they would even be between 1.500 and 2, but Moscow recognizes just 498, in addition to 1.597 wounded.

Dead and wounded among Ukrainian civilians

On the Ukrainian side, the United Nations human rights office calculates 227 civilians killed and 525 injured across the country. However, the Organization itself believes that, given the delay with which reports arrive, the real death toll is already "significantly higher".

An OECD observer was also killed

L'Osce has made it known that last Tuesday one of its observers died during the bombing of Kharkiv. This is Maryna Fenina, a Ukrainian citizen and member of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in the country.

The numbers of the war: the Ukrainian refugees

As for Ukrainian refugees, Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, tweeted that around one million people have fled Ukraine since Russian forces invaded the country.

The new German missiles

Meanwhile, on the armaments front, Germany is preparing to send another 2.700 anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine.

The numbers of the war: the effects on commodities

Gas

In the economic sphere, the surge in the price of gas continues, which on the electronic markets of Amsterdam has reached the historical record of 200 euros per megawatt hour with the future Ice Ttf, the reference point for this commodity in Europe. The increase is 19% compared to yesterday's closing.

Petroleum

The rally in oil prices did not stop either: during the night Brent exceeded the threshold of 118 dollars a barrel, reaching 118,2, the highest level since February 2013.

Grain

The rise in the price of wheat on the Chicago commodity exchange also continues: futures on wheat, a commodity of which Ukraine is one of the world's major exporters, rise by 7% and update the historical record to 1.134 dollars a bushel.

More

Finally, corn appreciated by 3%, to $747, again the highest since 2013.
