The Great Wine Brands talk about themselves in Rome with a masterclass aimed at the national trade

After having spread its image and its history in 25 countries of the world with 280 events and meetings with 67.000 international operators, the 18 great families of Italian wine, symbol of the national wine production of excellence, gathered in the Grandi Marchi del Vino institute , have decided for the first time since their establishment to hold their institutional event in Italy by presenting a sequence of their most prestigious wines to a selected audience of insiders, all representatives of the trade.

In Rome, the spaces of Palazzo Rospigliosi hosted an extraordinary Masterclass. Each wine was told by a member of the owner family, in a meeting coordinated by Daniele Cernilli.

The meeting in Rome was an opportunity to discuss and talk about some of the projects that the group is currently facing and which will characterize the coming months. First of all, the resumption of cross-border activities with appointments already scheduled in key markets such as the UK, the United States and Canada. Furthermore, the creation of the "Youth Group of IGM", a real investiture that the member companies have made, and will continue to make, towards the new generations, whose representatives are already in part being introduced into the company's activities, partly in the finalization phase of the training course.

A sort of Young Team which, with Federica Boffa Pio as president, has already begun to lay the foundations for the future of the group. “There was a great desire on the part of all to meet again and confront each other live – underlined Piero Mastroberardino, IGM President – and that of Rome was certainly the right occasion. Which also reaffirmed our attention to the internal market and, in particular, to the world of catering, a winning trait d'union between us winemakers and consumers. A relationship that in recent months we have kept more alive than ever thanks to the format “Il Gusto nella Sfida” which, albeit at a distance, has maintained the liaison between Istituto Grandi Marchi and our chef friends”.

In fact, "Il Gusto nella Sfida", an amusing challenge between the eighteen winemakers of the group and as many interpreters of great cuisine, passed on the IGM social channels, was even more successful than expected, with about 3 million contacts and a large participation from part of the users. And on Thursday 18 November we start again: at the same time, each of the eighteen chefs involved in the challenge will host the twinned cellar for an evening dedicated to top-level food and wine.

“In a strategically decisive moment like the one we are experiencing – explained Piero Mastroberardino – it is important to discuss and define the paths to follow. The group's annual meeting served just this and it was nice to register harmony and enthusiasm from everyone. Very intense months await us but once again the Istituto Grandi Marchi shows that it has all the characteristics to better face the many adventures that await us”.

The IGM day ended with the second edition of the annual IGM award: this year the award went to Jens Priewe: the famous German journalist received a special award from the companies of the group for the contribution he provided to the enhancement and dissemination of the Italian wine in the world.
