Huawei, London gives the go-ahead for the English 5G network

According to rumors of Daily Telegraph, the British government has given the green light to the participation of the Chinese group Huawei in the construction of the 5G network within the UK. The warnings of British ministers, including Gavin Williamson, secretary of defense, and of Washington who believe that Huawei equipment allows Beijing to spy on the conversations of customers who use them in any country they are in, did not help.

The English newspaper reports that London should allow only one limited access to the Chinese company Huaweii which will not be involved in the heart of the network but on less sensitive infrastructures such as antennas. The decision was made following a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) attended by ministers and senior security officials, as well as Prime Minister Theresa May who chairs the council.

Downing Street has not yet confirmed the information. The Chinese giant Huawei has become leader in 5G technology, the next generation of ultra-fast mobile internet, but its equipment is believed to allow Beijing to spy on the communications of countries that would use it.

The US has cut Huawei out of the participation in the creation of the network and they would have demanded the total exclusion of the Chinese giant even from the allies who adhere to the intelligence cooperation system called 'Five Eyes' and which includes the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

In February, Mike Pompeo, the US secretary of state, warned: "If a country adopts Huawei and puts it into some of its critical information systems, we won't be able to share information with them, we won't be able to work on their flank".

On April 15, the German Telecommunications Authority also allowed Huawei to participate in the creation of the 5G network.
