Hu Jintao: “We will invest in Italy” – Monti satisfied

The Chinese premier has expressed his appreciation for the reforms carried out by the Monti government and has declared that he will encourage investments in our country - The Italian premier is satisfied: "I didn't think I'd go home with the contracts already signed".

Even the Chinese like Monti. So much so that Prime Minister Hu Jintao has expressly declared that he will encourage his compatriots to invest in Italy. Words that please the Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, a veteran of a bilateral meeting with the Chinese head of government on the sidelines of the summit on nuclear security underway in Seoul. Premier Hu Jintao has declared that he will encourage the Chinese authorities, therefore sovereign wealth funds, and the business community to invest in Italy. But the official declarations will take place on March 31, when a summit is scheduled in Beijing between the two leaders and which promises to be equally fruitful. 

"I certainly didn't think I'd go home with contracts already signed," Monti said yesterday after meeting several heads of state from Turkey, Singapore, India, Thailand and Canada. In the Korean capital relations with the American president Barack Obama have also strengthened, that Monti had already met in Washington last February 9th. According to Ansa sources, the American president would have recognized the "very important role of Italy" and appreciated the progress made by the country with regard to structural reforms. The two heads of state will meet next May at the G8 summit in Camp David.
