The French president comments on the agreement that will allow Greece to remain in the Eurozone: "Europe gains" – "France has done everything possible to find an agreement" – "Tsipras was courageous".

Hollande: "We avoided Grexit"

" Greece stay in the Eurozone. Europe wins”. With these words, via Twitter, the French president Francois hollande commented on the agreement reached between the creditors and Athens, reached at the end of a very long day of negotiation between the parties involved.

The choice of Greek premier Tspiras, according to Hollande, was "very courageous" and the agreement "respected Greek sovereignty". The French president then wanted to dwell on the merits of France in reaching an agreement: “if the Eurozone had listened to just one voice, it would have ended with Greece's exit from the euro”.

After all, Hollande had already gone very far yesterday, promising that France would "all to find an agreement tonight and allow Greece to stay in the Euro as well as Europe to move forward”.

Hollande then wanted to clarify that it is not a question of "almsgiving, but solidarity", and clarified that "there was no attempt to pit one against the other. Countries like Germany wanted guarantees, but Parliaments need guarantees to approve the agreement”.
