H&M launches recycling: 1000 tons of used clothes

Collect 1.000 tons of used clothing in one week, April 18-24. It is the goal of H&M, which launched the global initiative World Recycle Week, which is joined by the artist and singer MIA, who made a music video to promote the event, entitled "Rewear it", which highlights the environmental impact of clothes that end up in landfills around the world.

The heart of the initiative, however, is the collection of used clothes, which will be held in over 3.600 H&M stores around the world: the goal is to collect 1.000 tons of clothing, in order to close the circle productive of fashion, limiting the use of natural resources through the recycling of used clothes. The recycling of a single T-shirt, for example, can save 2.100 liters of water.

World Recycle Week is part of the broader context of Garment Collecting, H&M's discarded garments collection initiative, which started in 2014 and which aims to surpass the goals already achieved in 2015, during which the percentage of fibers from recycled material used by H&M recorded a 300% growth.
