Greeted by an ovation and smiling despite the bitter disappointment: like this Hillary Clinton, visibly excited, presented herself on stage at her headquarters in New York. “Thank you all,” she repeated several times to her supporters. “I congratulated Trump – said the Democratic candidate, defeated by the tycoon -, I offered to work with him in the name of the country. This is not the outcome we wanted and I'm sorry, but I feel proud and I am very grateful to you: it was a creative, sometimes confusing but energetic, dynamic electoral campaign”.

“I know that you too feel disappointed – continued Senator Clinton -, I am too, it is painful and will be for a long time to come: but remember that our campaign is not just about an election, but about the country we love and values ​​we share. We have to accept this result and look to the future: Donald Trump will be our president, our democracy provides for this”

“Our Constitution – added Hillary Clinton, thanking her staff heartily – requires our involvement not only every four years but always, therefore we must always carry forward our values ​​and our ideas: we must protect our country, protect the planet. The American dream is great for everyone, for people of all races, all religions, men, women, immigrants, homosexual communities, the disabled. Our responsibility as citizens is to continue to do our part."

"I thank Barack and Michelle Obama, our country owes you so much”, concluded Clinton, paying homage to the outgoing president and first lady, as well as her family and all the people who supported her and worked for her during these intense months of the electoral campaign. At the end of the speech Hillary burst into tears, exhausted and disfigured with emotion.

Shortly after Hillary's speech outgoing President Barack Obama also spoke from the White House: "The new president and I have different visions, but it was the same with my predecessor Bush and yet there was a smooth transition," he said commenting on Donald Trump's victory. Then the tribute to her secretary of state, defeated by the Republican outsider: "It was a long and hard campaign, Hillary was very important for the women of America".
