Strategic work of the FS Group, what it allows and what the effects will be

THEopera, highly anticipated in the area e strategic for the FS Group, will make it possible to separate the flows of high-speed trains from those of regional trains, with positive effects both on the regularity of the service and on its enhancement, in terms of frequency and number of trips.

Il bandwidth of the new High Speed/High Capacity line will run for about 7 kilometers underground with two parallel galleries about 20 meters deep on average. The excavation of the tunnels will take place with mechanized techniques through the use of a tunnel boring machine. Two strokes on the surface: to the north between the stations of Firenze Castello and Firenze Rifredi, and to the south near the station of Firenze Campo di Marte.

The new station will be interconnected with Santa Maria Novella

The new station AV/AC Florence Belfiore, designed by the studio of foster architecture and by the engineering company Ove Arup and partners, will be built along the underground route. The station, served by high-speed trains, will be interconnected with the Santa Maria Novella station and with the entire surrounding urban area thanks to different modes of transport.

The yard's modernization activities will continue in these months. Once all the procedures and the various control and overhaul activities have been completed, the machine can be put into operation by the end of March.
