Hewlett Packard unloads ad Apotheker: Meg Whitman, current CEO of eBay, takes his place

Hewlett-Packard would be re-evaluating the spin-off of the PC division and especially taking into consideration the departure of the CEO Leo Apotheker. The news was reported by the Bloomberg agency, which quotes a source close to the events of HP, increasingly in the crosshairs of speculation. “No decision has been made, but board members are prepared to review this plan as this possibility has not been thoroughly investigated previously,” Bloomberg reports.

To weigh on the negative opinion of the Greek CEO were the too risky moves, which in this period caused the Palo Alto company to embark on a worrying downward trend, losing nearly half (47%) of its value on the stock market.

In particular, the failure of the tablet project also weighs: the Apotheker administration has lost a great opportunity or, at least, has not made the most of the growth opportunities offered by the market tablets. The ambitious project HP TouchPad it really didn't last long for the shareholders.

The board has yet to officially express itself, but yesterday the mere hypothesis of Apotheker leaving (less than a year after taking office) caused the stock to grow by 12%. Meanwhile, the first rumors of a possible replacement are already circulating: Meg Whitman, current CEO of eBay.
