Hera: technological support for the construction of waste-to-energy plants in Malaysia

After the launch of the Joint Venture in China, Hera also exports its waste-to-energy plant technology to the former Asian tiger, where all waste is currently disposed of in landfills.

Hera: technological support for the construction of waste-to-energy plants in Malaysia

An agreement was signed yesterday in Kuala Lumpur between Worldwide Holdings (a Malaysian public waste disposal concessionaire) and Impsa Malaysia (a company of the Impsa Argentina Group) to participate jointly in the construction of waste-to-energy plants in the state of Selangor and in other states of the Malay Confederation.

The existing collaboration agreement between Impsa Argentina and the Hera Group was extended to this joint venture, which provides for the exclusive use of Hera technology in the design and construction of these plants, a sector in which the Group holds an absolute record of excellence thanks to plants built in Italy and equipped, among other things, with a fume treatment system that allows emissions to be kept to one tenth of European standards.

In Malaysia, all municipal waste is currently disposed of in landfills (in the state of Selangor, landfills are managed by the partner Worldwide and will run out within the next three years); for this reason the Malaysian government has decided that four large waste-to-energy plants will have to be built (2 of 1000 tons/day, 1 of 750 tons/day and one of 500 tons/day).

The Joint Venture between Worldwide and Impsa, to which Hera will provide technological support for the design and supervision of the construction and start-up of the plants, will be responsible for the EPC implementation of the WtE, while the subsequent management will be the responsibility of Worldwide.
