Hera joins the Circular Economy Alliance

Ivy enter theAlliance for the Circular Economy, which unites several Italian companies engaged in this issue. The Bolognese multiutility announces it in a note, specifying that the group is also present in the Position Paper 2020 with Hera Luce, the subsidiary that has developed a circularity measurement system for public lighting.

“The current health emergency has strengthened what the climate crisis predicted and showed how systems (natural, economic and social) are strongly interconnected – reads the note – Pursuing a circular economic model is not only an obligatory choice but it is a opportunity to relaunch the country's competitiveness”.

The Alliance's 2020 Position Paper presents the road map towards a circular economic model, with five objectives and 23 detailed actions, including a 7% increase in investments and a 10% reduction in raw material costs, as well as 700.000 new jobs in Europe by 2030. "From an environmental point of view, in Italy, a complete development of the circular economy would allow a 56% drop in CO2 emissions by 2050", writes Hera again.

"The circular economy represents a great opportunity for Hera to respond to the most urgent priorities and challenges for the sustainable development of the planet - commented Stefano Venier, managing director of the Hera group – It is a new perspective that directs our business towards economic growth capable of generating shared value for the local area and the community. Our multi-utility nature allows us to embrace all aspects of circularity starting from matter, but also including water and energy. Now more than ever is the time to strengthen existing partnerships and create new ones, to respond together to the challenges we face".

The Alliance for the Circular Economy, born in 2017, now includes 17 companies: A2A, Aquafil, Bvlgari, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Cetena (Fincantieri Group), CIRFOOD, Costa Crociere, Enel, ERG, FaterSMART, Hera Group, Intesa Sanpaolo, NextChem (Maire Tecnimont Group), Novamont, Salvatore Ferragamo, TH-Resorts and Touring Club Italiano.
