Hera presented its sustainability report indicating 51 objectives for continuing to invest in energy efficiency and innovation. A commitment that represents a "shared value" for the benefit of citizens and the environment. “Innovation is also strategic in terms of sustainability” said Filippo Bocchi, director of corporate social responsibility at Hera with reference to the new challenges for sustainability deriving from the Paris agreement reached in the context of Cop 21.

Hera has activated an innovation plan based on the commercial proposition for customers, which goes hand in hand with waste collection: “Now our customers see us as partners, as it should be, in terms of energy saving; we have therefore launched offers to save energy; we make our know-how available to businesses, condominiums and residential customers. This will be the future in terms of energy”.

“We are innovating to reduce energy costs – continued Bocchi – we have set ourselves a measurable target of 3% by 2017 for the reduction of energy consumption and this will largely reverberate on the water service tariffs because due to the tariff mechanism of the authorities energy costs are pass-through, therefore they have repercussions on lower tariffs – he added -. It is therefore a situation of shared value, a benefit for the environment from energy efficiency and innovation, but also an economic benefit for citizens”.

“In our sustainability report – stated Hera's corporate social responsibility director – we have indicated 51 future objectives, broken down by the various stakeholder categories. In addition to the issue of waste for which we have a good positioning even if there is still something to do, we have objectives on energy efficiency, on the supply chain on which our responsibility also affects”.

It is this that “control of suppliers is fundamental; we are aware that related activities are significant since there are 5.600 people who find work thanks to Hera supplies in the area served. We will continue in our selection method which favors the most economically advantageous offer, therefore not at the lowest price, placing scores on social and environmental aspects in order to reward quality and sustainability because we know that suppliers are a determining factor for growth and the sustainable development of the territory”.
