Hera, agreement with Bio-on for the supply of clean energy

Bio-on and the Hera group, an Italian multi-utility operating in more than 250 municipalities, have reached an agreement for the supply of clean energy thanks to the construction and management of a new technological-energy hub which will contain a new concept trigeneration plant.

The agreement was signed by Bio-on, a company operating in the eco-sustainable chemical technology sector, with Hera Servizi Energia, a subsidiary of the Hera group, and will guarantee clean electricity to the new plant for the production of innovative biopolymers which Bio-on is building in Castel San Pietro Terme in the province of Bologna.

The plant will be inaugurated by mid-2018 and will begin the production of PHAs bioplastics thanks to an investment of around 15 million euro, will give work at full capacity to approx 40 Guests. The plant will be built on an area of ​​30.000 m3.700, of which 6.000 are covered and 1.000 can be built on, and will have a production capacity of 2.000 tons per year which can be rapidly expanded to XNUMX; it will be equipped with the most modern technologies and the most advanced research laboratories where Bio-on will experiment and develop new types of PHAs bioplastic using agricultural and agro-industrial waste as raw material.

Thanks to the agreement, the Hera group will make available to the new Bio-on plant produced and self-consumed electricity, thermal energy in the form of steam and cooling energy.

The long-term agreement includes the construction and maintenance of the entire technological-energy hub associated with the supply of energy, for a total investment by Hera Servizi Energia of 2,4 million euro.
