Heineken acquires control of Asia Pacific Breweries for $6,3 billion

Heineken has formalized the purchase of Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd, a group that operates in 14 countries with 30 plants and produces several Asian beers, among which Tiger stands out. The shareholders of the Asian partner Fraser and Neave Ltd voted to sell the conglomerate for $6,3 billion.

This agreement thus writes the final chapter of the long lawsuit between Heineken and the Thai tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, who is also interested in taking control of the APB. The Dutch company already owned 56% of APB for 81 years thanks to a partnership with F&N. The main objective of the operation is to benefit from a market, that of beer, which is growing rapidly throughout Asia and, above all, in China.

Heineken stock, listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, in the late morning, it gained 1,26% at 46,575 euros per share.
