Hamas to airlines: stop flights to Israel, they will be targeted

The Ezzedin al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, have warned the airlines not to fly into Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport which from today will be the target of the rockets that their militants fire from the Gaza Strip. The online edition of the Jerusalem Post reports it.

“Following the Israeli attacks on the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip, the armed wing of Hamas has decided to respond to Israel's aggression and therefore we warn you not to fly to Ben-Gurion airport which today will be one of our objectives because it also hosts a military airbase,” reads a statement signed by the Ezzedin al Qassam Brigades.

Hamas, always reports the Jerusalem Post, declared that it had already launched at least one rocket today in the direction of Tel Aviv airport, the main Israeli airport. At the moment it is not known where it fell. What is known is that several rockets from Gaza have been fired towards the Tel Aviv area since this morning and that three have been intercepted by the Iron Dome, the sophisticated anti-missile system used by the Israeli army.

According to an airport spokesman contacted by the Israeli newspaper, Israeli airspace was closed to incoming air traffic for about ten minutes in which the air-raid alarm sirens sounded in the Tel Aviv area. After the cessation of the alarm, air traffic resumed normally.
