Gvt, Vivendi deals with Telefonica: Telecom stock slows down on the Stock Exchange

Bad news for Telecom Italia. The French group Vivendi has announced that it has entered into exclusive negotiations with Telefonica to sell its Brazilian subsidiary Gvt, judging the price proposed by the Spanish operator, higher than that of the Italian company, "particularly attractive".

If the negotiations were completed - notes the transalpine group - they would allow Vivendi to obtain a capital gain of more than 3 billion euros. In the note, the group chaired by Vincent Bollorè also underlines "the pertinence and quality of Telecom Italia's offer". The Telecom stock reacts badly to the news in Piazza Affari: after starting badly at the opening of the session (immediately after the news of Telefonica's counter-offer), it had risen up to 3,3%, touching 0,9 euro, only to then immediately fall below +3%, in a clearly decreasing trend after the Vivendi press release.
