Vodafone will not join the Gvt match. As usual, the British group, led by Vittorio Colao, does not comment on the press rumors that speak of the possibility that Vodafone will also take the field in the race for Gvt, the Brazilian subsidiary of Vivendi, the group headed by Vincent Bollorè. But it is the financial analysts who are following Vodafone's moves most closely who completely rule out such a hypothesis, perhaps fueled by stock market speculation.
There are mainly two reasons that exclude Vodafone's interest in Gvt: the first is that Brazil is a geographical and market area completely outside the strategic directions of the British group which is instead concentrated on Europe, Africa and the India.
The second reason that excludes Vodafone's entry into the field is that Colao would never slip into an already complicated mess such as the race for GTV contested by Telefonica and Telecom Italia with Vivendi in the comfortable role of needle in the balance.
