The president of Acri defends the foundations from those who accuse them of being the machine of strong powers that control Italian financial power - "The foundations of banking origin do not control the banks but simply a part of their assets", said Giuseppe Guzzetti

Guzzetti: Foundations are not strong powers and do not control the banks

Foundations of banking origin are not "powers that be" and whoever attacks them calling for the change of the Ciampi law and the return to public dirigisme indulges in "populism".  Thus Giuseppe Guzzetti, president of Acri, the Association of banking foundations and savings banks, in his speech at the 22nd Congress of the Association.

"Foundations of banking origin do not control banks” he then added “but simply a part of their assets is invested in this sector. And that the administrators of the Foundations do not interfere - and cannot interfere - in the management of the banks. Foundations are institutional investors and, as such, they have the rights proper to shareholders (that is, to approve the financial statements and appoint directors), nothing more”.
