Safe driving, Generali Jeniot at Quattroruote Day

Generals Jeniot, the Iot and Connected Insurance service company of Generali Italia, has developed with Quattoruote a series of tests to objectively and scientifically test the electronic driver assistance systems (ADAS, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) on its track in Vairano (PV ) with the ambition to set a standard for the entire automotive industry. This year the tests of the driver assistance systems become part of the Quattroruote test specifications. This is one of the main innovations announced during Quattoruote Day 2019, which took place at the Vetra theater in Milan.

The project, which lasted a year, made it possible to develop 12 tests, aimed at analyzing the functioning of emergency braking, which have three fundamental characteristics: they reproduce plausible situations, they are repeatable and therefore offer comparable results.

“Proactive safety and the awareness of road users to use the car more consciously have always been central issues for Generali Italia" commented Francesco Bardelli, CEO of Generali Jeniot, “Advanced Driver Assistance Systems they significantly improve safety and can contribute to the reduction of accidents and their severity, provided they work correctly. With QuattroRuote we have defined a protocol to evaluate ADAS, Driver Assistance Systems, and tested over 20 car models: also in GeneraliJeniot and GeneraliItalia we leverage technology to increase safety".

The Quattroruote Test Center was able to count on the partnership of Generali Italy, a leading company on the Italian insurance market, which already has extensive experience in mobility, in particular in security telematics and Generals Jeniot. In 2016, Generali Italia introduced the first motor policy on the Italian market that interacts with the driver and is able to report risky driving behavior in real time and prevent dangerous situations. Thanks to an innovative satellite device equipped with the Real Time Coaching service, the driver is notified via a light signal of how he is driving and helped to recognize the riskiest behaviours.

The tests and evaluations of Quattroruote e Generali Italy they test the systems in different and far more severe situations than what has been experienced so far. This makes it possible to understand how capable a car is of actually avoiding impacts, up to obtaining a real ranking of the various models according to their ability to avoid accidents.

During the conference, a video showed methods and perspectives for their objective evaluation (of ADAS). The Vairano test center, already equipped with the most modern detection instruments, in view of this important innovation, will equip itself with a UFO (UltraFlat Overunnable Robot) radio-controlled platform capable of simulating vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists moving on the road, transmitting, at the same time, all the data needed to evaluate driver assistance systems.

Generali Innovation Center is the center of excellence of Generali Italia which has been carrying out study, experimentation and research activities on new technologies, repair techniques and materials, safety systems for over ten years, both in the automotive and property sectors.
