Michelin Guide: Bib Gourmand, eat under 35 euros

You don't live on stars alone. For those who want to sit at a good table and savor quality food without going to a higher-level restaurant, the Michelin Guide comes to the rescue which, alongside quality and high-priced restaurants, has created a selection of Bib Gourmand restaurants, i.e. places in to enjoy a pleasant gastronomic experience with a complete menu for less than 35 euros.

As a preview of the launch of the 65th edition of the Michelin Italy Guide, which will be held in Piacenza on 6 November, Michelin has today unveiled the names of the Bib Gourmand restaurants which are distinguished in the Guide by the pictogram of the smiling Michelin Man licking his mustache, both for the quality of the food and for the low price.

In this year's edition, the selection made by the Michelin judges increased by 25 new entries for a total of 266 restaurants located in all corners of Italy, from large cities to small towns accessible by dirt roads.

The quality-price ratio is certainly an essential element in the selection, but the priority is the passion for the table that creates the atmosphere of the Bib Gourmand restaurants, where you can taste recipes often inspired by tradition. But not only.

“Among the novelties, there are 3 restaurants offering Asian cuisine. The Kanton Restaurant, in Capriate San Gervasio, amazes with its happy mix of Chinese tradition and avant-garde cooking, at Le nove Scodelle, in Milan, you can taste dishes from the Chinese hinterland of the Sichuan region, and Green T, in Rome harmonizes menus with the scents of the Orient and imperial cuisine, or rather what from Mao onwards has become the "kitchen of official banquets".

Among the Bib Gourmands linked to our regional gastronomic heritage, the Osteria Ophis in Offida is intriguing, a suggestive medieval village in the Piceno hills, a restaurant faithful to local traditions, where, however, the chef always likes to "invent something new".”

Here is the complete list of the 25 new Bib Gourmand restaurants: L'Osteria del San Giorgio (Genoa), Osteria La Torre (Cherasco), Impero (Sizzano), Italia (Quarona), Kanton Restaurant (Capriate San Gervasio), Le nove scodelle ( Milan), Elisa and Fausto-Locanda Setteca' (Valdastico), Kurbishof (Anterivo), Alpenrose (Bressanone), La Grotta da 1918 (Sasso Marconi/Mongardino), La Campanara (Galeata), Trattoria Antichi Sapori (Parma/Gaione), Podere 39 (Florence), Tipico & La Locanda del Capitano (Montone), Il Tiempio del Gusto (Spoleto), Da Gregorio (Orvieto/Morrano Nuovo), Osteria Ophis (Offida), the Oste della Bon'Ora (Grottaferrata), From Armando to the Pantheon (Rome), Green T. (Rome), Trattoria Pennestri (Rome), Estro (Pescara), Spoon (Teramo), Le Antiche Sere (Lesina), Veneziano (Randazzo).

In general, the regions with the highest rate of Bib Gourmand restaurants are all located in the North. To be exact, Emilia Romagna leads the ranking with 33 restaurants, followed by Piedmont with 32, Lombardy with 28, Tuscany with 27, Veneto with 22 restaurants.
