Hera Group: the acquisition of Aliplast goes ahead

The total amount for the purchase of 40% of Aliplast is approximately 35,4 million euros, to which is added the component of approximately 1,2 million for having collected, as an energy-intensive company, in 2014 the related contribution. The purchase took place through the use of own resources.

This important operation, complementary to those concluded at the end of 2015 of Waste Recycling (Castelfranco di Sotto, Pisa) and of the environmental assets of Geo Nova (Treviso) and to the most recent acquisition of the Pisa-based Teseco plants, is part of the process of expanding the launched by the Hera Group several years ago, and is in line with the strategy of territorial expansion and integration.

Thanks to the acquisition of Aliplast and the recent announcement relating to the start of work for the construction of the first plant to produce biomethane in the Bologna area, the Hera Group consolidates its avant-garde position in line with the principles of the circular economy in which waste turn into resources. Suffice it to say that already in 2016, without the contribution of these plants, Hera recorded 64% of packaging product recycling, compared to the 65% set as a target for 2025, and recovered over 94% of the waste collected differentiated.

Founded in 1982 by Roberto Alibardi, with headquarters in Ospedaletto di Istrana (Treviso), Aliplast is a national excellence in the collection of plastic industrial waste and in the recycling and production of regenerated polymers, with over 80.000 tons of recycled plastic materials every year. It was the first company in Italy to achieve full integration throughout the life cycle of plastics: from environmental services for the management and collection of packaging and industrial waste up to the production and sale on the market of manufactured goods and packaging materials, plastic products self recycled. Over 300 employees work in Aliplast, active in the five Italian plants and in the three abroad (Spain, France and Poland).

“We are very satisfied with this signing – says Tomaso Tommasi di Vignano, Executive Chairman of the Hera Group – which represents an important step in the complete acquisition process of Aliplast. Through this operation we are relaunching our historic commitment to the circular economy, giving value to a company that has played a pioneering role in Italy, setting the standard and ahead of its time. We need to look to the future - continues Tommasi - by putting the best experiences of our tradition to good use, helping to make them grow further in order to continue to win together, for the benefit of the Group and the territories served, the challenges of sustainability and innovation that await us. ”

“Today is an important day for Aliplast – adds Roberto Alibardi, Director and reference shareholder of Aliplast – In fact, by making our entry into the Hera Group concrete, a new season opens, in which the skills developed by Aliplast will be further enhanced and increased, in the interest of our customers and those who can still become one. We will therefore continue to operate in the company to encourage the integration process and make the most suitable managerial contribution to pursuing the industrial objectives shared with the new partner, with whom we can't wait to achieve new goals."
