Divella food group: new investments and growth abroad

The Divella food group, which obtained 40% of its turnover on foreign markets, is ready for new investments. By 2015, 30 million euros will be committed to doubling the biscuit factory's activities, building a new dry pasta production line, expanding the warehouse and building a site for the storage of 15 tons of durum wheat. Thanks to the new investments, the Apulian exporter expects to increase its production capacity from 2,2 to 2,5 million quintals of pasta per year by next year.

Meanwhile, the group, which has been producing durum wheat semolina pasta since 1890, is now in its fourth generation, with 350 direct employees, and operates in 130 countries. After the latest agreement abroad with the American Pizza&Pasta Hut, of which Divella is a supplier in China, the group's investment plans now include landing in America.

“To be a large company I have to exceed at least 400 million in turnover, a result that we could achieve by 2015- explained Francesco Divella, who leads the group together with his cousin Vincenzo-. For us, growing is necessary because, every day, we measure ourselves against French, American and German multinationals, and globalization imposes coherent dimensions.”

According to the group's estimates, the goal is not that far away; the 2014 turnover should in fact grow by a further 10% compared to the 340 million of 2013.
