Gros Pietro: "Intesa Sanpaolo too big for other acquisitions"

"Banca Intesa Sanpaolo, the bank I preside over, has such a market share that it would be advisable not to proceed with further consolidation operations". He said it the president of Intesa Sanpaolo, Gian Maria Gros Pietro, speaking at the conference "Large Italian companies and Europe" at the Accademia dei Lincei and adding that in Italy "there will be episodes of consolidation in which foreign banks will make acquisitions".

The president's words come a few days after the eagerly awaited presentation of the bank's new industrial plan, scheduled for Tuesday 6 February. “It will not be a continuity plan but an important development plan”, Gros Pietro had already said yesterday in Turin on the sidelines of the presentation of the programmatic lines of the San Paolo company for 2018. “We started working on the plan in June and will conclude on 5 February. But some lines are already from Carlo Messina and they are those in the sign of continuity ”, he added.

Meanwhile, in today's session, which has so far been particularly positive for Piazza Affari, the Intesa Sanpaolo share recorded a moderate rise, of 0,3% to €3,1705 per share.
