Gros-Pietro defends the sale of Edipower

Edison's independent director Gian Maria Gros-Pietro takes the side of corporate restructuring, reaffirming the appropriateness: "By selling Edipower we get Edison out of a financial situation that we don't know how to resolve, the only alternative would be a capital increase which, with the current market situation, is neither in the interest of the company nor of any of the partners".

Edison's management has repeatedly recalled how the sale of 50% of the former general contractor leads to an improvement in the net financial position of approximately 1,1 billion euros.

Gros-Pietro, recalling that the opinion of the independent directors could block the operation, underlined that "Edipower in 2011 suffered a very rapid and substantial loss in value linked to the trend in the margins of the electricity system". Furthermore, he added, "in sales contracts, what is sold is worth more to the buyer, who in the specific case of Edipower will be able to create synergies".
