Grimaldi, from Mps 39 million for the "super green" ship

A medium-long term loan of 39 million euros for the acquisition of Echo Valencia, the latest generation ultra-sustainable ship capable of carrying over 7.800 linear meters of rolling cargo (cars, trucks, trucks, semi-trailers, etc.): to disburse it, in favor of the Grimaldi maritime transport group, Ps Capital Services Bank for companies, the corporate & investment bank of the Montepaschi group.

Grimaldi Euromed, controlled by the parent company, will purchase the ship just delivered from Chinese Jinling Shipyard: for its part, Grimaldi Euromed has covered with its own funds a share of approximately 40% of the value of the vessel, which will be used in the Western Mediterranean. Eco Valencia is the first of the series of 9 units of the GG5G class (“Grimaldi Green 5th Generation”) ordered from the Chinese shipyard.

It is a newly developed ship that uses highly innovative technological solutions to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. In particular, during the stop in the ports, the energy needs of this ship will be entirely satisfied by mega lithium batteries recharged during navigation by means of alternators keyed to the propulsion shafts, benefiting from a number of innovations for energy saving including a lubrication system air to reduce the friction of the hull in the water and the installation of solar panels.

“Mps Capital Services supports us in the realization of a highly innovative project that required years of research and planning. To date, there are no naval units with a comparable concentration of new technologies aimed at reducing the carbon footprint. We appreciated the Institute's attention to environmental issues and the ability to address and complete the project assessment and related credit investigation during the difficult period of the lockdown", commented Diego Pacella, CEO of Grimaldi Euromed.

“This transaction confirms the great commitment and attention that the entire MPS Group has in relation to the issue of sustainability. With this loan, Mps Capital Services confirms its vocation for supporting Italian groups of excellence committed to promoting environmental sustainability, providing a financing channel that will strengthen the Grimaldi Group's role in the Mediterranean", he added. Emanuele Scarnati, General Manager of Mps Capital Services.
