GreenIT, Jv between Eni and Cdp, acquires four wind farms in Italy for 110 MW

Green IT, a joint venture between Eni gas and light – Plenitude and Cdp Equity, has given the green light to its first investment in renewable energy. The company made it known in a note, specifying that it had acquired the Fortore Energia Group four onshore wind farms active in Italy with a total capacity of approximately 110 MW.

The transaction includes 55 wind turbines in Puglia, "in an area with high winds and with one of the most interesting repowering prospects on the Italian market", reads the note.

The wind farms have an average operation of over 2.000 equivalent hours, with a production of over 230 GWh/year. “This will make it possible to avoid the emission of around 100.000 tonnes/year of CO2 – continues the note – The incentivized residual life of the plants, which came into operation between 2008 and 2013, is still five years. Subsequently, all the preparatory activities for the repowering will be launched, with the aim of increasing the installed capacity and productivity, while at the same time taking advantage of the technological improvements in order to allow a more virtuous use of the territory”.
