Green pass: duration, how to get it, what can be done. The rules

The reopening decree contains new clarifications on the Italian green pass - Here's how to get it, what you can do with the certificate and how long it lasts: all the rules in 5 points

Green pass: duration, how to get it, what can be done. The rules

The rules on the green pass necessary to participate in some events, such as weddings, or to move in Italy between regions of different colors become clearer. Pending the debut of the European green certificate that will allow us to travel safely in the EU, our country has decided to move forward, launching its own discipline. So let's see what they are the main rules.

HOW TO GET THE GREEN PASS

According to the provisions of the decree n.52 of last April 22, there are three ways that allow us to obtain the green certificate:

  1. have received the Covid vaccine and be in possession of a vaccination certificate;
  2. undergo a buffer (rapid or molecular) with a negative result 48 hours before the trip or event;
  3. possess a report from the ASL certifying the recovery from Covid-19

HOW REQUEST IT

The methods of request vary according to the category to which you belong. For vaccinated subjects, the green pass is issued (in paper or digital format) by the facility or health authority where it was vaccination carried out. In case of recovery from Covid-19, it will be up to the general practitioner the burden of issuing the certificate. On the other hand, those who have a swab with a negative result get it directly from the laboratory they have performed the test

WHAT CAN BE DONE

Citizens in possession of green passes can move freely between regions, even if the latter are in an orange or red band. With the green certification you can participate in events or shows, ceremonies, weddings, fairs and congresses. In the near future, the green pass could also be used to enter a disco or attend a concert.

DURATION

The duration of the green pass depends once again on the category to which you belong:

  • negative swab: the duration is 48 hours from the moment the test was carried out;
  • recovery from Covid-19: the certificate lasts six months from the date of the end of isolation;
  • vaccination certificate: the duration varies from 9 to 12 months.

VACCINE AND GREEN PASS

Article 14 of decree on reopening approved by Council of Ministers on Monday 17 May establishes for the certification a duration of 9 months from the date of the second administration.

However, it is foreseen that the green pass can already be issued after the first dose. In this case, the validity starts from the "fifteenth day following the administration until the date foreseen for the completion of the vaccination cycle".

The duration of the green pass, if requested after receiving the first dose, therefore varies according to the vaccine. With Astrazeneca, given that the second dose is administered 84 days after the first, the overall duration of the green pass (between the first and second dose) is almost a year. With Pfizer or Moderna (recall after 42 days) 10 months are exceeded. Finally, with the single-dose vaccine Johnson & Johnsonduration is 9 months.
