Green Pass Day: dockers and high voltage truck drivers

The obligation to green pass at work, which shoots throughout Italy from 15 October, has triggered the reaction of many categories, which threaten to paralyze the country. In particular, between 20 and 30 thousand people are expected at the event organized by ports of Trieste, who intend to block the two accesses to the port of the city. In the Friulian capital, protests against the green pass have always been heavily attended by no vaxes, who have often managed to bring 10-20 thousand people through the streets of a town with 200 thousand inhabitants. The blockade threatens to bring one of the most important ports in Europe to its knees, also because the protest promises to be tougher than those staged so far.

The dockers, in fact, not only refuse to get vaccinated to get the green pass, but they also reject the hypothesis of using tampons every two days (despite the Port Authority offering them free tests, as suggested by the Ministry of the Interior). What they ask for is one complete government rollback on the green certificate, whose obligation to work is, according to them, illegitimate.

According to an unofficial estimate, 40% of the 950 dock workers do not have a green pass. Stefano Puzzer, spokesman for the Trieste Port Coordination (Clpt), announced that if only one person is prevented from working, everyone will be excluded.

Meanwhile, the President of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea threatens to resign, Zeno D'Agostino, if the protest does not go away: "I expect the port to be blocked by people who have nothing to do with the port itself, in which we have invested and which is now growing".

The other major front of the anti-green pass protest at work is that of the truck drivers. 30% of hauliers are not vaccinated and then there are foreign drivers with unrecognized vaccines, such as the Russian Sputnik.

“You risk it chaos due to lack of supplies if the functioning of transport and logistics is not regular”, warns the president of Conftrasporti, Paolo Uggè.

Moreover, the activity of many truck drivers has already been influenced by the protest announced by the dockers of Trieste: in order not to risk being stranded, several hauliers who are headed to our country from Turkey have chosen not to embark and to travel the route by land.
