Green agriculture: University and Coldiretti together in Campania

They don't want to do without research and valorisation of territorial excellence. This explains the desire to enter into agreements with research institutes, universities and specialists. In recent weeks, the managers of Coldiretti have chosen Campania to strengthen a strategy that places agriculture within a process of sustainability. A road that in Italy is still full of difficulties, especially in the food and agribusiness sectors. But in the Region of the Mediterranean diet and other refinements of the territory, the agricultural organization hopes to have good results. It has signed a cooperation agreement with the UNESCO Chair of the Department of Science and Technology of the Parthenope University. Together they will carry out studies and research on the themes that characterize this special university structure: nature conservation, biosphere; natural capital; ecological and environmental modelling; climate changes; green economy. The Neapolitan University is certainly satisfied with expanding its scope, since its Department takes its name from a long list of facts and pre-existences of Campania classified as Cultural Heritage of Humanity. A list that goes from the Mediterranean diet, as we said, to the art of Neapolitan pizza makers, up to the historic center of Naples, the palace of Caserta, Pompeii and Herculaneum, the Amalfi coast, transhumance. The agreement signed in Naples, said the president of Coldiretti Campania Gennarino Masiello, consolidates other collaborations already started with the scientific world.“ Cooperation with the Parthenope University, and in particular with the Unesco chair, will be useful for deepening the material value and intangible nature of the biodiversity of our territory.” The director of the department Giorgio Budillon and the coordinator of the Unesco Chair Pier Paolo Franzese have signed the agreement for their part which will start in the next few weeks. Coldiretti will support activities in the field in search of support and support from other public and private entities and bodies. An interesting path in a favorable regional economic context, blocked only by the Covid 19 epidemic.

2019 was an excellent year for Campania agri-food exports. The +5,5% with 1,7 billion euros obtained from the sale of quality food products, with sustainable processes, was achieved with the direct efforts of thousands of farms with incentives from the Campania Region and thanks to dozens of promotional initiatives .

At the beginning of the year, anticipating everyone, the Region led by Vincenzo De Luca approved the law on the traceability of regional excellence with Blockchain technology. But even before they could use it from abroad, quality agriculture in the provinces of Benevento and Salerno achieved the highest turnover due to exports last year.
