The European Commission and its President Jean Claude Juncker are visibly losing patience with Greece. The harsh speech of the Greek premier Alexis Tsipras, who yesterday in Parliament dryly rejected the EU proposals as "inadmissible" to reach an agreement on new funding in Athens, did not remain without consequences.
Juncker refused both telephone contacts and the request for a new meeting made by Tsipras, also because Athens has not yet sent its reform proposals which it had promised for Thursday and which has yet another disappointed face.
Juncker made it known that he has refused new contacts "because there is no progress in the negotiations and therefore there is nothing to discuss".
"We know - an official source in Brussels said ironically - that we are acting in the theatre, but we don't want to play a part in every scene of the show".
According to the Financial Times, the Greek government has a plan to bring the debt below 60% of GDP by 2030.
