Greco (Zurich): no M&A in sight among the big insurance companies

The CEO of the Zurich group, former CEO of Generali, has excluded the hypothesis of mergers and acquisitions from the agenda of the major European insurance groups: "Still too many uncertainties after Brexit".

Greco (Zurich): no M&A in sight among the big insurance companies

No M&A in sight among the large European insurance groups due to the too many uncertainties of the scenario and in particular Brexit. This is the analysis by Mario Greco, CEO of the Zurich group. “I'm not sure if M&A is high on the agenda of insurance groups today. There are still too many uncertainties in Europe. The scenario is still volatile, many things need to be defined and clarified, especially regarding Brexit,” said the CEO, questioned on the matter during a conference call with the press on the half-year results of the Swiss insurance group.

"I doubt that until this happens, there will be an appetite for meaningful M&A in Europe," added Greco, who has been in charge of Zurich since March after leading Generali.
