Greece, Tsipras resigns and early elections are held between the end of September and October

In the next few hours Tsipras will resign and between September and October the Greeks will return to the polls: this is the timing of the early political elections that Prime Minister Tsipras will propose after losing the parliamentary majority due to the split in his party (Syriza) on the reforms to be implemented in exchange for the new 86 billion European aid plan.

Greece, Tsipras resigns and early elections are held between the end of September and October

Tonight or at the latest tomorrow, the Greek premier Alexis Tsipras will resign and the Greeks will return to vote between the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. The Greek premier decided to take this step after noting the split in his party (Syzira) and the consequent loss of the parliamentary majority on the reform plan agreed with Brussels in exchange for the new substantial 86 billion euro aid package for Greece : recourse to early general elections is inevitable.

The return to the polls should take place either at the end of September or, at the latest, in October. This is what transpires today from government circles in Athens. The spotlights of all of Europe will turn on Greece's vote to understand if Tsipras will have the strength to remain at the helm of the Government and to respect the agreed reform plan but also to understand if the harsh reality of the economic problems which has already cooled the Syzira's original illusions will or will not win the polls with the affirmation of a more realistic and more reformist majority.

It goes without saying that Spain, which will vote in November and where Prime Minister Rajoy is catching up with the populists of Podemos on the basis of a clear economic recovery, is looking to the Greek vote above all.
