Greece-Troika: stalemate, clash over public dismissals

The negotiations between the Greek government , Troika (EU, IMF and ECB) have been suspended. The decision on sending the next tranche of aid is postponed until April. The representatives of the international creditors, who had been in Athens for two weeks for the usual quarterly verification of the country's accounts, left the city without having reached any agreement with Antonis Samaras' Executive on the next steps to take.

According to sources close to Athens, one of the main differences is sui layoffs in the public sector. The Troika inspectors will return to Athens next month: a new 2,8 billion loan installment is expected to be granted at the end of April.

However, the Troika inspectors point out in a note “the significant progress already made, although some issues still remain to be resolved. To do this, further technical work will be required. The mission expects to return to Athens in early April to continue the work".
