Greece, Schaeuble: IMF not participating in first tranche of aid

The IMF, the International Monetary Fund, will not take part in the first tranche of aid destined for Greece and to be paid in August. This is what we read in the letter sent by the German Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble, to the Bundestag in view of this morning's vote on the resumption of negotiations with Athens for a third aid programme.

The IMF, it continues, conditions its participation in the payment of the arrears owed by Greece, on a positive conclusion of the first evaluation of the program scheduled for the autumn and on the sustainability of the Greek public debt. In the letter, Schaeuble also informs the Bundestag that the German contribution to the 7 billion bridging loan agreed for Greece is 523 million.
