Greece chooses interim premier: "Mine will be purely a transitional government"

At least on the transitional government, Greece has reached an agreement. The new general elections will be held on June 17th. Until then the prime minister will be the president of the State Council, Panagiotis Pikrammenos. But there was no shortage of discussions in this case as well. In fact, it seems that the President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias would have proposed to entrust the task to the former technical premier Lucas Papademos. But Alexis Tsipras, the young leader of the radical anti-European party Syriza, according to the polls favored in the next elections, he would have opposed.

“The country is at a critical point,” Pikrammenos said, “I hope to be able to carry out my task, mine will be purely a transitional government“. And the communist leader reiterated that this executive will not take any relevant decisions Aleka Papariga. “It will be a strictly provisional government”, Papariga said, “which will not have to undertake any action at the level of the European Union or NATO which is binding on the Greek people”.

Meanwhile in the country has gone wild panic for fear of an imminent exit from the euro e over 700 million euros were withdrawn by Greek citizens yesterday from bank current accounts.
