The industry has finally given a sign of recovery. Greek industrial production on an annual basis turned positive again in June, for the first time in more than four years. Secondary sector output grew by 0,3% year-on-year in June, from -2,8% year-on-year in May, according to Athens statistics office data. However, this is still a provisional estimate. It was since April 2008 that there was no positive value.
But a bitter note also came from the Greek body. In fact, the unemployment rate reached a new record in May, growing to 23,1% from 22,6% in April. In May 2011 it was 16,8%. The number of unemployed rises to 1,15 million against 3,82 million employed (more than 320 fewer than in May).
