Greece, Eurogroup ok with aid

Greece has worked and is working well. "Good progress" is being recorded in the Greek country and at present "all the necessary conditions exist" for the EFSF state-saving fund to approve the disbursement of the 8,3 billion aid package. This is the conclusion reached by the economy and finance ministers of the Euro countries at the informal meeting of the Eurogroup in Athens.

In particular, highlights the president of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the path of fiscal consolidation "is on track", while "good progress has also been made with regard to structural reforms". Furthermore, Dijsselbloem continues, "we welcome the authorities' commitment to the implementation of reforms in broad public sectors and market products" such as goods and services.

The Athens government is now being asked to continue along this path. “The reform process will have to continue in order to increase the growth potential of the Greek economy”, underlines Dijsselbloem. The areas of intervention on which Greece is called to make further efforts are liberalization, privatization and public administration reform.

This is the reiteration of the requests that the creditors have repeatedly made against the Athenian government, called to satisfy them. Meanwhile, the international community is preparing to lend new money: the first tranche of the package (6,3 billion out of a total of 8,3) will take place "at the end of April", which will be followed by two tranches of one billion each in June and July.
