Will the referendum on the European plan promoted by surprise by the Tsipras government really take place on Sunday 5 July? The doubt is legitimate after the news that the Council of State, activated by a former centre-right judge, is evaluating whether Sunday's popular consultation has filtered through Greek judicial sources.
According to the applicants, the referendum would be unsustainable because, by affecting public finance issues, it would violate the Greek Constitution. However, the Tsipas government has presented a counter-appeal and tomorrow the Council of State should issue its final verdict.
