Greece, creditors in Athens to negotiate

Representatives of Greece's creditors, the EU and the IMF, arrived in Athens to kick off negotiations with the Greek authorities for a new loan to the Greek country. This was announced by a spokeswoman for the European Commission, Mina Andreeva, during a briefing with the press: "The teams of the institutions are now on the field in Athens - she said - and the work begins immediately, at this very moment".

The spokeswoman also explained that theand creditor institutions "are waiting" for other reforms by Greece "to allow for a quick disbursement of the loan" by the ESM Salva-Stati Fund. "TOIncreasing the speed of the reforms – said Andreeva – will help strengthen trust between partners. Progress has been made towards a new program for Greece and the first two tranches of reforms, those expected for 15 July and those expected for 22, have been implemented on time and in an overall satisfactory manner". This, concluded the spokeswoman for the EU and the IMF, "made it possible to start the negotiations which are in fact underway in Athens, negotiations which must now be completed as quickly as possible". On 11 August, if everything really goes as expected, there could even be a meeting of the Eurogroup, to give the green light to the program.
