Greece, high tension between Schaeuble and Draghi: "Mario, don't take me for a fool"

"Don't take for a fool," German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble shouted, the leader of the European hawks, addressed to the president of the ECB, Mario Draghi at the height of the tensions that occurred yesterday evening in one of the most difficult Eurogroups in history. “Germany – commented the Luxembourg spokesman – risks splitting Europe”.

To avoid definitive ruptures, the Dutch president of the Eurogroup suspended the meeting which resumed this morning and will continue to the bitter end in search of a compromise. Precisely for this reason, the Polish president of the Council of Ministers Tusk canceled the meeting of the heads of state and government of the 28 European countries while, after the meeting of the Eurogroup, the Eurosummit was confirmed for 18 prime ministers of the countries of the area only EUR.

However, the climate remains very tense and the danger of rupture is more than ever present with dramatic effects on Athens but also on Europe. Now everything will depend on Merkel.

According to the latest rumors, the Eurogroup is preparing to formulate this mediation: a week for Greece to approve the most important reforms of the Tsipras plan and only after the resumption of negotiations on the third aid programme. Meanwhile Greek banks, on the verge of bankruptcy, will still remain closed.
