Grafiche Boccia, 60 years and an eco-sustainable museum

The former President of Confindustria Vincenzo Boccia celebrates the history of the family business in the name of sustainability. A year of events and the project "From waste to art."

Grafiche Boccia, 60 years and an eco-sustainable museum

As President of Confindustria, Vincenzo Boccia has encountered the themes of sustainability and work in relation to the environment countless times. Coming himself from a land rich in historical and artistic traditions that have had a relationship of respect and good coexistence with the environment. Back at the helm of the family business in Salerno, to celebrate the 60 years of life of the “Graphic Arts Boccia”, the manager gave life to the project “From waste to art”. A non-invasive cultural initiative, reminiscent of a story that began in 1961 on the initiative of Father Orazio Boccia.

The artistic project with collateral initiatives will develop throughout the year through the container "Beyond the circular economy",where paper scraps become works of art. The artistic direction of the painter from Salerno Vincenzo Vavuso, will have to project into the future the tradition of workmanship that has accompanied the success and notoriety of the Boccias all over the world. In this sense, a message is launched to young people and art institutes in the province of Salerno to bring them closer to a sector with a strong ecological flavour. Boccia also relies on the close ties over many years with journalists, publishers, writers, creatives, entrepreneurs, who have frequented the family printing house. Social capital and economic strength built with insight. Therefore, in the offices and in the factory, an eco-sustainable museum available to painters and artists. Paper as a symbol of human evolution, an instrument of knowledge, a product to be respected and reused.

Vincenzo Boccia

We go beyond the gates of the Salerno plant because we present “the expression of a corporate DNA that puts people at the center in an open, dynamic and inclusive dimension. The journey we propose, from tradition to innovation through art, is the symbol of a sustainable industrial civilization” says Boccia. Connect 60 years of manufacturing activity, of southern excellence to the future, appropriating art and creativity means giving life to an "innovative" story - adds Boccia - in the wake of the role of industry as the cultural avant-garde of the country". Nobody thought that 40 years ago. So, on the occasion of the presentation of the event there was no shortage of memories of the beginning. From when Orazio Boccia learned the trade in an orphanage, from the passion for craftsmanship, from the first small printing house. Then the turning point of the 80s and 90s, of technological innovation, of digital, of the use of the best rotary presses, of the managerial success of one of the family at the top of Italian industrialists. All in a familiar, participatory, generous environment up to the granting of credits to many small publishers as long as they edited their periodicals. Vincenzo Boccia recalled this background on many occasions. Paper scraps will try to tell us more expressively.
