Gp Monza, the last time for Montezemolo (and for Alonso?)

What kicks off today with the first practices and will culminate on Sunday with the race (which, unfortunately for the Italian fans, will hardly see Ferrari among the protagonists) is a Monza Grand Prix full of meanings: it could be the last with Ferrari either for that for Alonso.

Gp Monza, the last time for Montezemolo (and for Alonso?)

What kicks off today with the first practices and will culminate on Sunday with the race (which, unfortunately for the Italian fans, will hardly see Ferrari among the protagonists) is a Monza Grand Prix full of meanings. Mostly melancholy, given that according to persistent rumors it will be Luca Cordero di Montezemolo's last as president of Ferrari: recent misunderstandings with the parent company Fiat on the stock market listing are in fact causing the historic leader of the Reds to take a step back.

Step back, and this would worry sportsmen even more, as could Maranello's top driver, Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard has to renew his contract, but frustrated by so many years without victories and with uncertain prospects for the future (Ferrari is currently not among the most competitive cars) he might even be tempted to change his sights. For now, however, the dry denial arrives: “Future? I want to win with Ferrari and race until I'm 43,” said the 33-year-old Iberian driver.
