GoWare: “Nummer Eins. Germany explained to the Italians”. Emanuele Schibotto's book

Emanuele Schibotto's essay “Nummer Eins. Germany explained to Italians", published by goWare and introduced by economist Paolo Savona, explains to Italians the successes and peculiarities of the German model by analyzing its economy, social sphere and international relations

From sick person to Europe's locomotive, Germany has undergone an extraordinary parable in the last decade. How did she manage to reverse course and become top of the class? He explains it to us Emanuele Schibotto in a new essay published by goWare.

In a decade, Germany from "sick of Europe" has become the "locomotive of Europe". And it has also recently won the pennant of the most loved country in the world. In such a short space of time, not only the real power relations between countries have been reversed in Europe, but also the collective perception of the condition of the Germans. And we ask ourselves: how did they do it?

Emanuele Schibotto's essay Nummer Eins. Germany explained to Italians, published by goWare and introduced by the economist Paolo Savona, explains to Italians the successes and peculiarities of the German model by analyzing its economy, the social sphere and the sphere of international relations.

"Post-unification Germany - writes Schibotto - has followed the logic of geo-economic competition, favoring the consolidation of national geo-economic champions, the internationalization of its businesses and the maintenance of a strong attractiveness of the country-system for foreign investors".

Any good lessons for Italy?

Rome, explains Emanuele Schibotto, studying the path taken by Berlin, should focus on the creation of a national geo-economic strategy that allows it to enhance the individual comparative advantages - the manufacturing industry, the agro-food sector, the cultural heritage - and implement a long-term foreign policy giving ample and effective space to economic diplomacy.

A reading to finally understand a country that has been able to face and win, better than us, the challenges posed by history and globalization.
